Debut Album Release Party
Presented by Strathmore as part of the Artist in Residence Program.
NISTHA RAJ releases debut album, Exit 1, a laboratory for Indian Classical music. Most of the nine tracks on Exit 1 have deep roots in Hindustani music, featuring well known table (drum) maestro Debu Nayak. The album features original compositions, adaptations and new arrangements by Raj of classical works, pushing ancient melodies in new directions through the addition of new instrumentation, such as cello, guitar or piano, to complement the sound of her five-string violin.
Performers include, Debu Nayak, Christylez Bacon, Wytold, Behzad Habibzai, Ajay Ravichandran, The Fourth Stream, and many more.

INTERSECTIONS Festival

Atlas Performing Arts Center

“No Hay, Yahan”

Enjoy a new musical intersection presented by the award-winning Nistha Raj, after her sell-out world music concert at last year’s festival. Nistha will travel the gypsy trail that carried the music of India to Spain in a concert collaboration with flamenco guitarist Behzad Habibzai and percussionists Debu Nayak and Alfredo Darquea.  The intimate performance space invites audiences to step into the sounds of two musical hues swirling together to create a new color.  Meet the artists at the Festival Closing Night Party in the Kogod Lobby following the performance.
