Son of Hindustani classical music maestro Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, Shrinivas drew inspiration from his parents. After completing B.Tech from IIT, Delhi, his decision to make music a career was a conscious one. Shrinivas started serious pursuit of music in a traditional Gurukul System under his father and mother, late Smt. Vatsalabai Joshi Along with extensive training and proper talim in Kirana Gharana, he also started accompanying his father in concerts. Occasionally, both father and son performed together. Though Shrinivas has upheld the traditional principles of the Kirana style, exposure to an array of musicians has developed rich with his own content and emotion and originality.
